Drerup taught himself the techniques that would make him the most renowned and collected enamel artist in America from the 1940s through the 1960s.

The Karl Drerup Art Gallery and Exhibitions Program is dedicated to promoting interdisciplinary understanding of art and visual culture. The Karl Drerup Art Gallery exhibits nationally and internationally renowned artists and designers and features annual exhibits of faculty and student works.
